The team at Net are fantastic. Throughout the whole process of creating and building our new website they have provided excellent service, working with our ideas and tactfully suggesting alternatives if ours weren’t quite right! No request ever felt like asking too much. We received excellent personal service that has carried on now our website is up and running. Wouldn’t want to work with anyone else!

PHASE 1
Web Design
When designing a website for a school there’s usually a lot of information intended for a lot of different people so the navigation of the site is very important. We started by introducing clear a mega menu at the top so the user could get to what they are looking for efficiently. The website sections are clearly broken down into sections to help the information easier to digest.

PHASE 2
Website Development
The website needed to hold a lot of information while also maintaining a simple bite size approach as to not overwhelm the client. The colours and large graphics are used to break up the information in to smaller palatable snippets that allow you to scan for what is important to you as a viewer and read more in depth the specific information you are looking for. It was important to use lots of illustrations to represent elements of what they do and the colour palette helped us to keep this cohesive.

PHASE 3
Icon Design
It was important to break up the information to help it be more engaging to younger users. We found a set of logos was an effective way to break up the inflation and add more colour to the limited colour palette of the website. We created a lot of icons in several different sections of the website including a full set of icons for the subjects. The introduction of the colours helped us group information visually by colour also.

PHASE 4
Timeline
Queen Elizabeth School has such a rich history that we had to find a way to showcase it on the site. All that text could have been an easy thing to hide away in an ‘about’ page, but we felt the number of fascinating stories and events that make up the school’s history were worthy of something just as intriguing. So, we designed a standalone timeline page, a fun and interactive experience, the timeline walks the user through the school’s key moments leading up to the present day. We really happy with how it turned out and it provides a light way to display information on a site that by nature has so much content.

Results
Working alongside Tracey and the team at QES has given us the unique experience of building a site that’s fit for parents, pupils and staff alike. Having so much information that needed to be on the website wasn’t an issue, but finding a way to organise it and keep the site clean and navigable was a tricky obstacle to overcome. Fortunately, between teams, we worked to find a number of solutions that make the site user friendly, whilst providing an up to date showcase of the school’s strengths.
